Travel

What is ETIAS and Why is it Needed for Italy?

Starting in 2025, travelers from over 60 countries, including the US, Canada, and Australia, will need to apply for ETIAS, a travel authorization required by the European Union (EU) for entry into the Schengen Zone (Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and many others). This applies to trips for tourism, business, family visits, short-term study, or medical reasons, as long as you’re planning to stay fewer than 90 days within a 180-day period. Although it’s not a traditional visa, ETIAS is essential to help keep borders secure and travel safe for everyone.

How do I apply for ETIAS and what are the requirements?

To apply for the ETIAS, visit the official ETIAS website and complete the online application form. You will need to provide personal details, passport information, and answer a few background questions. Once the form is filled out, you will need to pay the application fee, which is typically around €7, using a credit or debit card. After submitting your application, it will be processed, and in most cases, approval is granted within minutes, although it’s recommended to apply a few days before your trip. Once approved, you will receive an email confirmation. Your ETIAS approval is electronically linked to your passport, so there’s no need to print it out. Be sure that your passport is valid for at least three months beyond your planned stay in Europe before applying.

Transportation

Is transportation provided to and from the wedding venue?

Yes! We’ve arranged for shuttles to transport guests from San Pietro Sopra le Acque & Todini Relais Hotels for all three events. Multiple return times will be offered during the reception. A detailed itinerary will be shared soon—stay tuned!

Will rideshare services (Taxi, Uber, Etc.) be able to drop me off at the venue?

Rideshare services are limited in this region and may not be available. If you're not staying at San Pietro Sopra le Acque or Todini Relais, we recommend arranging private drivers or transfer services. These can typically be coordinated through your accommodations, whether through the hotel concierge or your villa host. Transportation details are still being finalized, and we will share updates as the wedding date approaches.

Can I drive to the venue? Is there parking available?

On-site parking is available at Castello di Montignano for guests who wish to drive. Please be mindful that the countryside roads in Umbria are not well-lit, so extra caution is advised when driving at night.
