Flight & Transportation Information

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Rome’s main international airport is the most common entry point for travelers arriving in Italy. From Fiumicino, you can take a private transfer or rent a car to reach this region, which is located about 150 km away (approx 1.5 hrs by car). We recommend booking a private driver or shuttle service for convenience.

Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi Airport (PEG)

This smaller airport is the closest as it's located in Umbria just 40 km & approx 45 mins from the venue. While it offers limited direct and international flights, it is a great option for those flying within Europe based on prior travel plans or layovers. Taxis, private drivers, or car rentals can be arranged from this airport.

Florence Peretola Airport (FLR)

Florence’s airport is another viable option, about 200 km or 2.5 hours by car from Castello di Montignano. It is ideal for guests traveling in Tuscany or northern Italy before the wedding.

Additional Airport & Travel Options

In addition to Perugia, Rome, and Florence, there are a few other airports you can consider if you're traveling in Italy before the wedding. Pisa International Airport offers easy train connections to Todi and Orvieto. Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport has train options to Florence and Rome, from where you can transfer to Orvieto and Todi. Milan Malpensa Airport provides train services to Rome, Florence, and Orvieto. Ancona Falconara Airport is another option with train connections to Perugia and Todi. Lastly, Venice Marco Polo Airport connects to Florence and Rome, with further train options to Umbria. All of these airports are accessible by train, offering convenient routes to the venue.

Travel Tips

Airfare from the US

To secure the best airfare to Italy, keep an eye out for deals and aim to book your flight no later than 2-3 months in advance. Being flexible with your travel dates, especially flying on weekdays, can help lower costs. Cities like New York, Boston, or Chicago often offer better deals on transatlantic flights with layovers in cities like London, Paris, or Amsterdam. Connecting through a major European hub can be more economical than flying directly to Italy, especially if you plan to travel around Europe before the wedding.

Private Transfers from Airport

We recommend coordinating a taxi or private driver in advance for the last leg of your journey, as these smaller stations may not have as many direct public transport options to Castello di Montignano. The logistics are still being finalized, but we will share contact details for recommended drivers and services soon.

Train Stations and Connections

Trains are a popular and convenient option for travelers heading to Umbria. For those arriving by air, you can consider taking trains from several major Italian airports. From Rome (Fiumicino Airport), take the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini, then transfer to a train heading to Orvieto or Todi. If you're flying into Pisa (Pisa International Airport), you can take a shuttle to Pisa Centrale and then catch a train to Orvieto. Alternatively, if you’re arriving in Milan, you can take a train from Milano Centrale to Florence or Rome, and then transfer to a train towards Orvieto or Todi. These are great options to get closer to the venue in Umbria.

Book Train Tickets in Advance

You can book train tickets in advance on websites like Trenitalia (the main Italian train service) or Italo (another high-speed train provider). It's advisable to book tickets ahead of time, especially for long-distance or high-speed trains, to secure the best prices and seat reservations.
